Song of Remorse — St. Peter's Denial of Jesus

Subject: A song of remorse for St. Peter after he denied Jesus three times. Jesus turned and looked at Peter, and Peter remembered the predictions of the Lord: "Simon, Simon, behold Satan has demanded to sift all of you like wheat . . . I tell you, Peter, before the cock crows this day, you will deny three times that you know me."

This song indicates that Jesus was scourged "endlessly" based on the revelations of the Blessed Mother to the Venerable Mary of Agreda in "The Mystical City of God, Volume III, The Transfixion."  The Blessed Mother indicates that Jesus was scourged 5,115 times by six executioners.  Google AI calculates that it would have taken approximately 3 hours and 35 minutes for Jesus to be scourged 5,115 times based on (1) paragraphs 628 and 629 in the third volume of Venerable Mary of Agreda's book; (2) the assumption that each executioner could exact one scourge every five seconds; and (3) the scenario of paragraph 628 that the executioners worked in pairs, two at a time, with the pairs rotating. This means only two executioners were active at any given moment. This computation explains the extent of St. Peter's abject remorse for denying and abandoning Jesus during His passion and death on the cross.

Lyrics

My Lord, My Lord,

My Lord, My Lord,

I did not see what they do to You.

I did not want to believe that they would kill You now.

My Lord, I did not believe Your Words when You said that they’d scourge You endlessly.

My Lord, Satan sifted me like wheat when I denied You three times.

Three times, three times, three times, I denied I knew You.

He sifted me like wheat when I denied You today, when You — You died.

My Lord, will You forgive me now that I’ve cried tonight because I decried You?

My Lord, I am so sorry.

Will You, will You forgive, forgive me, forgive me?

Please forgive me.
