JESUS' REJECTION AT NAZARETH

Music and lyrics by James Ralph Boyd

Subject: A ballad on Jesus’ rejection at Nazareth. Jesus announced his good news to the world. Then the people chased him out of town and tried to throw him off a cliff. But he disappeared before their eyes! An incredible miracle that's seldom talked about. "But he passed through the midst of them and went away." Gospel of St. Luke 4:16-30.

Lyrics

The Son of Man returned to his native land in Galilee, His home of Nazareth.

And His friend warned Him that nothing good could come from Nazareth.

And Jesus walked into town.

They looked upon Him and frowned.

How could you be the one?

God's holy one, but Son of Man?

How could You proclaim we're free?

You gave to me glad tidings.

You claimed this year for the Lord.

How could You say such things in the name of God?

You're no Elisha who raised their dead and cleansed their sick.

Why will You not do these things for us in Nazareth?

And so then Jesus said no prophet is welcome in native lands.

Then they chased him away.

He slipped away.
